Sliding Through

On our walk each morning, I give Rain a series of tasks designed to try and work through some of her physical and mental energy. Repeated jumps over the chain that blocks off the parking lot at night. Practicing our turns. When we get to the play structure on the far side of the park, I may send her up and down a series of platforms or I may have her jump over the balance beam several times.

She is the one who started sending herself down the slide.

To be fair, it’s a relatively low slide, perhaps about four feet off the ground at the top. And Rain doesn’t slide down it as much as she does run. But even trainers have been surprised at the fact that this behavior started with her.

It’s not really a thing dogs do!
